OPEN 10 MILE TT ON V718.
With barely time to switch from one bike to another after the Peter Taylor Road Race our attention switched to the V718 for an Open tt.
After two days horrendous weather it was a miracle the event even took place but with the wind dropping slowly and no rain the event got under way.
Fast times certainly did not seem likely with the wind still into the riders face on the long return leg from Melton but early starters Lee Burrows returned a 19 to give others hope. The result board started to have a few 19s added with the odd 18. We began to wonder if the lads from BROTHER NRG PRO CYCLING might achieve their stated aim of setting new Competiion Team record!
I.Rees checked in first with a solid 19.14 followed in quick order by D.Bigham with a tremendous 17.24. The record was certainly on. J.Tipper had Mike McLeavy and Derrick White as carrots and made certain of the record with an 18.40! The fun was not over as next team rider, C.Tanfield stopped the clock at 17.46 to break the record for the second time. With one rider to go could a third record be on the cards?
S.Wilson finished the evenings fun producing a time of 18.05 to complete the THIRD BEATING of the old figures ending up with 53.15 (Bigham, Tanfield and Wilson). Get your money on these lads to take the National Team TT later this month in Yorkshire.
Our best rider in the event was Alex Russell with a fine 19.39. ALAN KAYE- 24.15, Mark Philipson-22.34, Joe Faichney-20.23, Sarah Caroline Hulme-25-32, Mark Symons-22.12, Nick Fairfield-24.35, Lee Watson-21.13, Tony Washbrook-24.44, Mike McLeavy-22.37, Derrick White-22.01, completed our City Road Club riders finishing the event.
Thanks to all those who helped Mark with another top event from Team CRC Hull.
