PETER TAYLOR MEMORIAL ROAD RACE.
THANKS TO JOHN FENTON AND PAUL BREARLEY for their sterling work to get this race underway. The heavy rain over Friday night had washed masses of debris onto the course which, if left, would certainly have prevented the race starting. Undeterred and equipped with assorted equipment they arrived early on race day and cleared the course to the point it was ok to race. Chapeau gentlemen.
Typical of this course the race was decided on the climbs of Trundlegate and soon three riders had a gap. Nick Guest, Josh Jones and Kit Gilham worked well together to the end and took top places. In addition they dominated the Vive le Velo primes at the end of each lap with Guest and Jones taking two each and Gilham one.
In the end it was Kit Gilham (Unattached) who took top money with Josh Jones (Manila) second and Nick Guest (FTR Miltag) third.
The race for minor places saw Alistair Thomas (Sportcity) fourth, Ben Trippier (Maxxis 4) in fifth and best placed junior, Alexander Konijn ( CC Monkey Town) in sixth spot.
A very special thank you to our BC Officials, catering ladies, car drivers, first aiders and the stalwarts of City Road Club Hull for their commitment marshalling and keeping the riders safe.
Just a sample of what we had to deal with!
