C.A. Rhodes Memorial Award

The C.A.Rhodes Memorial for 2013 is to be made to Bob Howden in recognition of his outstanding service to the furtherance of cycling both in Yorkshire and nationally, including his recent election as President of British Cycling.

The memorial was instigated in 1961 as a tribute to the memory of Charles Arthur Rhodes (1895-1961) doyen of the Yorkshire Road Club, co-founder in 1932 of the Yorkshire Cycling Federation and a nationally recognised timekeeper and administrator. The Award is regarded as the greatest distinction Yorkshire Cycling can bestow.

A copy of the citation is available here.

The award will be presented at the annual Yorkshire Cycling Federation luncheon on the 23rd February 2014.

Sunday Club Run

Sunday Club Runs – May

3rd May – going to Barn Cafe, Tibthorpe.

10th May – going to Caistor.

17th May – going to Cafe Gelato, Market Weighton.

24th May – going to Allerthorpe.

31st May – going to Mr Moos, Skipsea.

Non-members and novices always welcome. We strongly recommend the wearing of safety helmets on our club rides (for the safety of all riders). Meet at Cottingham Green opposite Sainsburys at 9am (unless otherwise stated). Normally two groups. The steady group will ride to the pace of the slower rider. We usually get to café about 11.15.
