Warm and windy conditions greeted the near 50 riders who took to our annual road race held on the Little Weighton Circuit. The early pace, according to race judge, Dave Lambert, was more touring then racing! But from lap three riders started to work for breaks and the pace ramped up. Combined with the persistent wind the bunch was stringing out but soon regrouped as each attempt was nullified and things settled. The race continued in this pattern with riders away then being brought back and it became inevitable that a sprint would ensue.
Coming into the finish three riders had a slight gap which they held to the line. Local lad, and past winner Richard Moore ( Squadra) held on to win from Alexander Simmons ( BowlPhish Bontrager) with Paul Rymer ( Wilsons Wheels) holding on for third. The gallop for the minor places went to Michael Sloans ( Sunderland Clarion) with Freddie Jagger ( Private) coming in fifth. Rob Watkinson ( Doncaster Whls) claimed sixth place.
John and Geoff would like to thank the more than 24 Club members who helped in any way to make this a safe, successful and enjoyable event. A mention of BC commissaire Neil Predergast for his guidance in dealing with the mysteries and pitfalls of the BC entry system is deserved.
