Bit of a double play on words there! Signs being vandalised made for a panic start to the day but once replaced, and with a fantastic set of marshals at the turn all went well.
Ten riders exceeded 30 mph rides with Wayne ‘the Cuduth Hard Man’
Randle tearing round in 18m58s to set new course figures and prove fastest overall on the day, although strictly speaking in the Vets 40+ category!
The event was the first of the ‘Old Skool’ series and was graced by ‘Sir’ Ian Cammish. Camm looked resplendent riding in retro on a superb racing ‘iron’ and produced 21m38s beating many a rider on modern carbon aero creations! Caused many an ‘older’ spectator to start reminiscing.
The Club was well represented in the event with Andy 'my bikes not really that RETRO' Faichney leading off the field with 23m19s, Jason ‘I need a BIGGER gear’ Young stormed to a new pb of 20m28s, Mark ‘Postman Pat’ came in with 22m51s. Off at 69 Andy ‘either way up’
Tummons rode to a recent years personal of 21m27s shortly followed by Jasons ‘little big brother’ and new Club member Chris Young with a storming 22m12s.
Not to be outdone our two ladies featured well in their event Lesley ‘It was my birthday Tuesday’ Phillips rode to a new pb and Vets Ladies Club record of 29m29s. Last club rider off at 139, Sarah ‘sprout hatter’ Tock came in at 28m53s time. She was not happy at the HQ after as we had eaten all the chocolate cake! Fastest lady on the day was Claire Ella with 22m02s!!!!!
A special thanks to ALL helpers on the day. It was a brilliant turn out, the event went well, and nothing but positive feedback for the Club has been received. Well done and thank you all!
