GAP IN THE NEWS.

Hi folks. Sorry there has been limited news over the last weeks but, as the insistence of Chrissy, I have had to suffer in the heat of sunny Rhodes and drag myself away from the cold, rain and wind of the UK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Life has gone on and there has been the usual batch of cycling activity going on. Weekend rides under the leadership of Les and Ken have seen good numbers as more are enjoying group riding at a steady pace.

On the racing scene the main focus has been on the V with a few speedy events.

Our own highly successful open ten, promoted by Mark P, saw six members riding. Norman Griffin – 22.12, Tony Washbrook – 23.51, James Murphy – 24.05, Alan – Young -25.10, Alan Kaye – 25-11, Gary Brearley – 26-10.

The first of the Team Swift Ten League events saw slightly better conditions with five CRC riders involved. Norman G – 21.17, Mark P – 22.31, Andy V – 23.01, Tony W – 23.35, Gary B – 24.25.

This last weekend the YCF event was billed as an attempt on comp record but winner, and record holder Michael Hutchinsons 18.33 fell well short. Ironically new figures had been set on an E course earlier in the afternoon by Alex Dowsett [Movistar pro rider] with 17.20!!!!!

Six of out Club rode and ended up with the following times: Steve C – 20.18, Mike Mc – 22.16 Andy V – 22.38, Mark P – 22.54, Tony W – 23.30, and Gary B – 24.41.

On Sunday two riders contested Bridlington RC 25 mtt on the Wilsthorpe to Leven course and, in good conditions came home with sound performances. Steve Carrigan was 6th with 58.13 and Andy Vaughan finished with 66.19.

Next week we are running an Open 10 on the V718 instead of a Club event. Any members not already are invited to contact Mark P as helpers are needed to ensure a successful and safe event.

Sunday Club Run

Sunday Club Runs – May

5th May – going to Howden.

12th May – going to Skydive. Meet at Humber Bridge Car Park.

19th May – going to Allerthorpe.

26th May – going to Burton Agnes.

2nd June – going to Sunk Island Garden Centre – TBC

9th June – Peter Taylor Road Race – help required.

16th June – going to Driffield – Bell Mills.

23rd June – annual trip to York Rally – start 08:30.

30th June -going to Fridaythorpe – Seaways.

Non-members and novices always welcome. We strongly recommend the wearing of safety helmets on our club rides (for the safety of all riders). Meet at Cottingham Green opposite Sainsburys at 9am (unless otherwise stated). There will be a slower group every Sunday (unless otherwise stated), which will wait for those who may struggle due to being novices or new to cycling. We usually get to café about 11.15.
